Welcome to the GMS Invitational 2010. We are excited to host your team and provide your athletes with a quality meet. Hopefully, the following information will help you during the meet. If you have any questions please contact Coach Kohl at 575-202-4203 (cell)
1. All entries are due by Wednesday, March 10th at 7:00p.m.
2. The scratch meet will be held in the cafeteria from 8:00am to 8:45am.
3. Each team is allowed three entries per team in the individual events and one team for each relay
4. Spikes can be no longer than 1/4?. Athletes with longer spikes will be disqualified for the remainder of the meet. Spikes will not be allowed in any building. Tape, tennis balls or any flat mark can be used on track surfaces for marks. Athletes are responsible for removing their own marks.
5. There will be no locker rooms available. Restroom will be available by the west bleachers. Each school will be responsible for their own valuables.
6. Starting blocks will be provided. You may use your own blocks but they must be approved by the meet referee.
7. Medals will be awarded 1st ? 3rd place. Team trophies will be awarded 1st ? 3rd place.
8. No Jewelry will be allowed. Athletes wearing jewelry will be disqualified if noticed by an official.
9. The National Federation Rules for uniforms will be enforced. Hats cannot be worn during competition.
10. Only officials and participating athletes will be allowed on the infield around the finish line. Any coach or non participant will be warned once and removed to the stands.
11. Changes in the schedule of the meet will be posted and announced. The home meet administration reserves the right to make changes as necessary.

13. All National Federation rules will be enforced, with the exception of the NMAA Rule differences. In conjunction with the NMAA?s Pursuing Victory with Honor, all schools are asked to promote positive sportsmanship.
Important Information
Scoring - Individual events are scored: 7-5-4-3-2-1; relays scored 10-8-6-4-2-1.
Lane Assignments - Lane assignments are as follows (fastest to slowest).
Curved races: 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 2, 1
Straight races: 4, 5, 3, 6, 2, 7, 1, 8
Sport Specifics
1. Distances for individual events and relays for 7th, 8th and 9th grade students are the same
as those at the Senior High Level.
2. A 7th or 8th grade student is limited to four (4) events in any track meet. No more than
three (3) of these may be running events, including relays. No more than two running
events may be 400 meters or more.
3. 1600 meters will be the maximum distance event for junior high and middle school.
4. 7th and 8th Grade Hurdle Height:
The boys? 110 meter high hurdles are 36? in height.
The boys? 300 meter intermediate hurdles are 33? in height
The girls? 100 and 300 meter hurdles are 30? in height.
5. The discus must weigh 1 kilogram and the shot put 4 kilograms.
6. The 4x200 will be ran New Mexico rules and will be explained in-depth at the start line as all relay rules are explained at the Middle School level.
