Course description: Runners will be transported via bus from Alta Canyon Sports Center (9565 S Highland Dr) to the starting line. The race will start at Alta Ski Resort. Runners will enjoy 13.1 miles down Little Cottonwood Canyon, past Snowbird Ski Resort and into Sandy City. Weather: Start Line: Ave Min Temp: 48.5° F. Finish Line: Average Max Temp: 88° F. Aid Stations: Aid Stations with water/sports drinks, first aid, and restrooms will be located approximately every two miles, beginning at mile 3. Canyon time limit: Little Cottonwood Canyon will be closed to traffic until 8:15 am. Runners will have 1 hour, 45 minutes to clear the canyon (approximately 9.5 miles). If runners are unable to reach Wasatch Blvd in the 1 hour, 45 minute time limit (an 11:03 mile pace), they will picked up in a relief van and taken to the finish line. The ELEVATOR: Lest you be deceived, this incredible downhill course does have one uphill jaunt. Just after the mile 10 marker, you'll pay a very small price for all the downhill you get to enjoy! The ELEVATOR is a 100 foot gain in less than a quarter of a mile. It's short, sweet and to the point. But don't worry, you'll be back to downhill again before you know it! |
